Hawker 450 XP
CGI
IS IT REAL OR CGIMAGINARY The ability to import engineering design data and use that information to create photo-real marketing visuals is a relatively new work flow. What’s new is the level of photographic quality that Davidson & Company is creating with CAD data. Jajo Inc. had a real dilemma on their hands in creating the marketing materials for the new Hawker 450XP corporate jet. Ordinarily they would schedule a photo shoot to photograph the new model. This time there wasn’t a plane to photograph because it hadn’t been manufactured yet. With a fast approaching print and tradeshow deadline of three weeks;; Hawker’s engineering department supplied the CAD data of the interior and their interior designer supplied all interior furnishings for reference. The CAD files were imported into our virtual photo studio and working closely with Jajo’s creatives;; the camera angles and features shots were established. Our talented CG team applied color;; texture;; lighting and ambiance to the virtual interior model. A total of six different camera angles were selected and rendered in high resolution for use in the new Hawker 450XP brochure.
ROAM
ROAM is a revolutionary street light monitoring system designed for municipalities and utilities. The system is comprised of numerous components and is deployed over a very large graphical area making it difficult to visualize its connectivity and advantages. Our CGI artist created the perfect municipality encompassing all the individual elements that the ROAM system can manage;; such as sports stadiums;; ports;; rail system;; etc. in a virtual 3d world. Modeling of the 3d components were done and positioned into our city. The perfect camera position was then located that would displayed the entire ROAM network. Additional cameras were placed into our 3d world and positioned perfectly on the individual components that make up the system. The individual camera views were then sent to our render farm for rendering of high resolutions images for ROAM’s use in their print and web advertising. Additionally an animated fly though of the city was rendered for use in presentations and trade shows.
Ethanol Exports
THE PROBLEM Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the oil-producing Gulf;; causing many delays and inconsistent delivery of gasoline. Ethanol production and its use in gasoline became headline news. ICM;; a leader in the ethanol industry;; wanted to create a photo-realistic visual representing their exporting ethanol-production facilities. THE OUTCOME Using stock photography for advertising has long been an ideal solution for projects with short deadlines and tight budgets. Unfortunately;; it lacks the versatility of a customized image to convey a message and the image ownership many corporations need to protect their brand. To overcome these shortcomings;; our artists started with a stock photo of the ship;; then created CG components of a generic ethanol plant. Lighting the CG elements and rendering them in a perspective that matched the stock shot were imperative to creating a believable image. Our retouch and CG experts took great care with that perspective; lighting and color matched from element to element;; producing a perfect visual of an exporting ethanol-production platform.
Butterfly Girl
THE PROBLEM The Partnership was tasked with promoting a new;; high-end shopping complex being developed by Thomas Enterprises. The concept was to visually blend environment and model into one image that personified the elegance and sophistication of the new complex. THE OUTCOME Starting with David Arnold’s photography of the model;; our retouch and CG artists began the process of creating a seamless image. First;; we created an eye-catching fabric background mapped to the model’s dress. Extra care was taken to make sure the lighting of the environment matched that of the model. Next;; the model was imposed onto the background;; from which she appears to be emerging. Finally;; CG elements and butterflies were placed throughout the image to bring it all together in a dramatic impression of elegance and chic sophistication.
